Dave Zabriskie’s Tour Fate In Doubt

According to a recent Velo News report, Dave Zabriskie still does not know whether he will be representing Team CSC in next month’s Tour de France. This news likely will shock Zabriskie’s fans in European as well as his fellow countrymen here in the USA.

Many North American fans were excited to see Davey Z’s performance on the mountains in the Giro, always sticking close to the wheels of the leaders on virtually every climb. He has long made a name for himself as a time trialist. His newly developed strength as a climber seemed to promise great things for Zabriskie in the Tour.

CSC is perhaps the strongest team in the field right now and they have excellent leadership. If Zabriskie does not ride for them in the Tour I am sure it will be because they are convinced they have another rider who can help the team better. From an American fan’s perspective, however, I hope they cannot find a better rider than Davey because I would love to see what he can accomplish this year.
