Team Gerolsteiner’s Förster bolted from the pack to out sprint Danilo Napolitano (Lampre) and Eric Zabel (Milram) to win the opening stage of this year’s Deutschland. The weather was nasty and Förster apparently suffered a puncture late in the race. Germany should be happy that their countrymen took first and third places and that a German team won the first stage of their tour. Things should start to get really interesting with tomorrows Team Time Trials. Hopefully I will be able to watch all of that stage.
