Omloop Het Volk. Gesundheit.

Well, that was a crazy last kilometer… I thought for sure it was going to be a sprint between Stuart O’Grady and Juan Antonio Flecha, who’d managed to keep a decent gap off the front for ages, but they screwed around too much in the final K and let the chase group join them. A chase group which included Pippo Pozzato, Tom Boonen and Nick Nuyens. No doubt O’Grady and Flecha regret that now, since as soon as Pozzato caught them he kept right on going for the win.

The coverage was great on Cycling.tv - a little pixelly, which made it nearly impossible to pick individual riders out (all we could see were the team colors), but there’s nothing like watching races live. Looking forward to Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne tomorrow!

1 Filippo Pozzato (Ita) Liquigas
2 Juan Antonio Flecha (Spa) Rabobank
3 Tom Boonen (Bel) Quickstep-Innergetic
4 Nick Nuyens (Bel) Cofidis
5 Stuart O’Grady (Aus) Team CSC
