No Piano Days, Part Deux

Many of the riders were hoping for a fairly easy ride during today’s flat stage while the break was allowed to win or the sprinters fought it out at the end. But they did not know that Christophe Moreau would drift back to the race doctor’s care to care for his injuries at the wrong time.

People who were counting Vino and Astana out forgot that he still is breathing and in the race. He evidently directed his team to pick up the pace at that time to try to split the field.

I could not follow the race very closely and did not get to hear the end, but it is clear that there will be no rest for the weary in this year’s Tour. Barloworld won its second stage of this year’s Tour, further demonstrating the merit of their wildcard offer. Robert Hunter managed to get and stay near the front in a finish that eliminated some by crash and others by crowding.

Once again I am amazed at just how exciting this year’s edition has been. Who would have thought that I could hardly get home to watch the video of a hot, flat stage?

Barloworld is having the race of their lives; I love it when a wild card team goes for broke and actually comes up with something meaningful.
