Giro: Having a Little Fun With the Devil
By Jessica | Permalink |In case you missed it, on the road up to Tre Cime di Lavaredo on Sunday the lone Mexican cyclist in the Giro had a little fun. Julio Perez Cuapio was evidently not working so hard that he couldn’t grab Didi the Devil’s pitchfork as he rode in the four-man breakaway group up the wet, cold roads… And then he prodded one of his breakaway compatriates, Leonardo Piepoli, in the tushie before handing the pitchfork back to a beaming Didi and then riding on, grinning ear to ear.
Funny, Piepoli doesn’t look like he’s in the mood for a practical joke, does he? Surprising, then, that Perez was the one whose legs gave out first on the final climb to the finish. Anyone with that much chutzpah ought to win, in my book.
