Tour of California Same-Day Coverage on Versus - Begins This Sunday

I posted before about the Versus cycling television schedule, which (oddly) didn’t include information about the Tour of California. Partly, I think that’s because their website reflects the whole “Cyclysm Sunday” thing, and they’re actually going to be showing same-day coverage (not just Sundays) of the Tour of California. But it’s still confusing, since they list their live daily coverage of the Tour de France on that Cyclysm Sundays schedule. I’m trying to give Versus the benefit of the doubt here, since they’ve just had a name-change, but really - is it so hard to get the entire cycling schedule on one page?

Anyway, cycling fans are gearing up for the Tour of California this month, and Versus will be showing same-day coverage of every stage. It’s not live, but it’s better than cramming eight days’ worth of racing into a one-hour recap on Sunday. Cycling fans in the US have settled for much less in the past, so we kind of take what we can get.

The network will typically air stage coverage at 10 or 11 p.m. Weekend stages will run for two hours, from 5-7 p.m., with an hour-long rerun at midnight Eastern.

The Tour of California broadcasts will also mark the end of Bob Roll’s annual hibernation. I think we all look forward to his return.
