GP Ouest France-Plouay
The up-to-the minute start list is here. The GP Ouest France-Plouay is the only one day classic that falls during a Grand Tour, since the Vuelta begins this Saturday. During the Giro, the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya stage race occurs, while no other ProTour race occurs during the Tour de France. The Vuelta, on the other hand, tends to attract the riders that want to either win it, or use the race as training for the World Championships (Sunday, September 30), with the latter only lasting a week or two. For the Worlds competitors that choose not to go that route, the GP Ouest France-Plouay, along with the Tour of Poland stage race, are used as preparation for the Worlds. Notably, this will be the return of Andreas Kloden, since his Astana team was given the BootsnAll. Also getting a wild card to this race will be next year’s American hope: Slipstream-Chipotle.

Ashton, your boy Steve Cummings will be riding for Discovery in this race as well. Notice that the Disco squad for this race has ZERO Americans…
