LeMond at Landis Hearing: Dirty Little Secrets

I just don’t know what to say about the whole Greg-LeMond-testifying-at-the-Floyd-Landis-hearing thing. Scratch that, I do. It’s incredibly fucked up, is what it is. I can’t help but shake the feeling that LeMond just can’t seem to let any American cyclist win the Tour de France without somehow getting his name in the news knocking the other guy down a notch (or attempting to). From his repeated Armstrong-dissing (not to mention LeMond’s lawsuit against Lance) to now this weird testimony at the Landis hearing yesterday - it’s just fucked up. If Saturday Night Live were to write a parody of a hearing investigating doping in cycling, it would be a helluva lot funnier than this one is but it probably wouldn’t go nearly as over the top theatrically. It’s almost not to be believed.

And no matter what I already thought of LeMond, if he really did confide deep, dark, personal secrets to Landis (which doesn’t make much sense to me, but whatever), and if Landis did callously share said secrets with his close and personal arsehole friends, then that makes Landis a jerk. If his arsehole friends can’t help themselves from making juvenile crank phone calls on the eve of LeMond’s testimony at their friend’s hearing, then Landis deserves whatever’s coming to him. What a bunch of fucking idiots.
