French Cycling Vocabulary
By Jessica | Permalink |
Hey, now - here’s something… Even though we’re more than a week into the Tour de France already, there’s still plenty of time to begin your French language studies, and this French Cycling Vocabulary list is a great place to start. Here’s a sample:
un directeur sportif: manager
un domestique: support rider
un peloton: pack, bunch
un poursuivant: chaser
la tĂȘte de course: leader
And here’s a good note: It’s “le Tour de France,” which literally means “tour of France,”
and not la Tour de France, which would mean “tower of France.” Now, if the author of this site could just get her hands on Bob Roll’s pronunciation techniques, I’m sure she’d be pleased.
