De Ronde Van Oeste Portlandia

This is really cool - a group of cyclists here in Portland organized a one-day event the day before the Tour of Flanders, which they called De Ronde Van Oeste Portlandia (Tour of West Portland) and which included a couple nasty hills. The title of the documentary they made is even called “Incredibly Steep.” It’s a great little film, and it’s especially so if you’re familiar with Portland.

The poster for the Portland ride is funny; if you can’t see the tiny lettering, it says:

It’s just a ride. No prize but honor. No fee but sweat. No support but lyrca. No sponsor but yourself. No rules but the lawful kind. No sanction but from the Madonna del Gisallo.

I especially love that the race organizers painted the Lion of Flanders all over the place to mark the route. I wonder how long they’ll last?
