Cycling.tv’s New Portal Finally Up & Running

tvAfter much to-do, it appears the new Cycling.tv portal is finally up and running - with a week to go until the Giro d’Italia, it means they’ll have a little time to work out some kinks before the debut of the Versus Channel, although I’m kind of expecting that there will still be some bugs along the way. As it is, I like it - overall. The biggest annoyance is that every time you click on something - whether it’s the tabs at the top or side of the screen or the link to change your password - it opens up a new f*%king window. Every. F*%king. Time. That is going to be increasingly annoying, I can tell, because after only ten minutes of clicking around I’m already riled up. I also got a bunch of cryptic error messages, but I’m chalking that up to the portal being new, and won’t judge that part too harshly. The new window thing, however, appears to be part of the design, so I’m going to judge that as harshly as I please.

All in all, I think the new Cycling.tv has some good new features - the ability to download some race videos being foremost among them. I’m looking forward to the super-high quality videos they’re promising for the Giro, and, as always, the amusing and informative (both parts, in relatively equal measure) commentary from the likes of Anthony McCrossan and Brian Smith.
