Around the Web on Wheels: 10 February 2007
By Jessica | Permalink |It’s nice to see more news about this season instead of last season.
- The names of the arbitrators in the Floyd Landis hearing before the USADA have been released.
- Team Unibet’s online gambling sponsor isn’t allowed to advertise in France, so they wore question-mark jerseys in Marseillaise earlier this week.
- Outside magazine has an interview with Tyler Hamilton in the current issue. I wonder if Hamilton thinks the title of “BackPedaling” is funny?
- Hamilton says he’s going to be targeting Liege-Bastogne-Liege and the Giro d’Italia, both races in which he’s done damned well in the past, for his first year back after a suspension.
- The Italian National director sportif would like to see Italians atop the podiums this year, noting it’s been five years since an Italian has won the Tour of Flanders, and nine since they’ve had a Tour de France victory. I wouldn’t mind it either - I love the Italian National Anthem.
- The Discovery Team members have new uniforms this year, but that’s not all - they have among their ranks the US champion and the Japanese champion, who each have their own special kit. George Hincapie, who’s the US champion for the 2nd time, also has a new bike. (I’m assuming the Japansese champion, Fumiyuki Beppu, gets a special bike, too, but I don’t have a picture of that one.)
- The US has already got the Tour de Georgia and the Tour of California, and now we’ll have the first Tour of Missouri this September.
- I hadn’t seen this site before, so I’m taking the chance that it might be new to you, as well - VeloBios aims to be “America’s number one cycling reference guide” by putting all the information on American UCI men in one place.
