Around the Web on Wheels: 04.01.07
By Jessica | Permalink |I’m already tired today, and hope to be taking a nap later on. These early weekend mornings, while full of great race coverage, are going to be the death of me. Thank goodness I’m not in Australia or something, I think it’s the middle of the night over there…
Here’s some news for you - considering the date, you get to do the work to figure out what’s valid and what’s not. Shouldn’t be too difficult for you.
- Oscar Freire followed up a 2nd win at Milano-Sanremo with a 3rd win (in a row) at Brabantse Pijl today (I wish the name of that race was some kind of prank, but, alas…) after a heroic effort by teammate and former Brabantse Pijl winner Michael “Jaws” Boogerd.
- Jens Voigt finished up the weekend’s Criterium International on the podium’s top spot for the 3rd time.
- NBC is planning a reality program which would follow local rider Chris Horner through the season. It’s tentatively titled “You Gotta Love Horner” - I think they can do better. Don’t you?
- Excellent news for race fans - Cycling.tv will be showing the Tour of Flanders live. Of course, that’s what they said about Milano-Sanremo. Not to be a skeptic, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
- PEZ has a great feature on an important - and not often thought about - part of professional bike races: the team car.
- Michele Scarponi came away with the overall victory at the Coppi e Bartali this year, but not without a fight - that Riccardo Riccó certainly isn’t shy about attacking.
- The special edition of CyclingNews today is well worth a read. And that’s no joke.
